Radial Arm Saws
Radial arm saws
are basic bench saws. They're ideal for crosscutting and rip cuts. The blade is positioned above the table and cuts through the workpiece, so it's more convenient if you're cutting longer pieces. Unlike a table saw, where you're moving the piece through the saw, you can keep the piece stationary and move the RAS blade straight through.
- Easier to maintain because the the overhead blade can be aligned very quickly.
- If you're limited on space, a radial saw can be positioned against the wall.
- Can rout rabbets or edges if used with a chuck.
- Blade can be tilted and turned to cut miters and bevels.
