GunPowder Green Tea, 8 oz
Rolling the leaf has two effects on quality of the tea. The leaves are tightly rolled into small pearls. When infused, they explode, yielding a refreshingly sweet, amber liquor. The difference in flavor is remarkable. Since hand rolled generally represents a higher quality, the flavor is much more subtle, not at all harsh; very smooth foretaste and long, long delightful aftertaste. Rolling also forces out water, thus helping to reduce the Gunpowder green teas final moisture content.

Gunpowder Green Tea (Camellia sinensis) 1 lb: C
The tea was named 'Gunpowder' by an imaginative English clerk who thought the tiny rolled green tea balls looked like balls of gunpowder. The Chinese name is Siaou Chu, which means 'large leaf.' It is also called 'Pearl Tea.' Rolling the leaf both forces out the water and brings the flavorful juices to the surface. The dehydrated pellet retains its shape during firing and keeps its freshness longer than tea not manufactured in pellet form. Once immersed in water, the tea leaf extends, revealing...

In China the name for gunpowder tea is "pearl tea". Rolling the leaves has a beneficial effect on the quality of the tea. Not only does it force to the surface flavorful juices that otherwise would remain in the leaf, but the...
